It's the end of the week for those of us who either are still in school or have to go back to work on Mondays. By the end of the week, some of us have done 40+ hour work weeks, been to way too many appointments and probably written more papers than William Shakespeare wrote plays (just kidding, it feels that way though sometimes).
WARNING: You will eventually burn out if you don't stop and take a break. Some Saturdays may be filled with outings to the park and for others it may mean that you are catching up on a weeks worth of cleaning... but let Sunday be your day of rest. And for those of you who are go, go, go all of the time, let these 4 things help you to achieve a day that will rejuvenate and refresh you.
1. Write/start a journal. I know this may be something that many people may not have the time to do or may not even enjoy doing based on their lack of writing skills, but after you finish writing out whatever is on your mind, I guarantee you will feel a weight lifted. You may not realize how often you keep things in throughout the week, so let yourself get out everything that you are feeling. I promise your own journal will be able to handle whatever you have to say :)
2. Read a book. Reading is a way to get lost in someone else's life other than your own. Take a few hours and delve into a good book and really let yourself get into it. I recommend a book that has minimal action or anything that will cause you more stress than relaxation.
3. Take a nap. This is one of my favorite things to do on a Sunday! Catch up on some extra Z's that you missed earlier in the week. Take a look at lifehacker to see how long to nap for the biggest brain benefits. This can help you pick a set time to sleep that won't cause you to feel groggy when you wake up.
4. Read your Bible. Reading your Bible isn't just something to when you're in church. It's something that you should really be doing everyday. I put this one on the list because there is something ever so refreshing about learning about a God who cares and loves so deeply for his people. Haven't read your bible in a while? Dust it off and start in the book of John. It's a great place to pick back up or even to start if you are a new believer.
Question
What ways do you try and relax on Sundays? I would love to hear your input and try a few other ways!
