Nursery In Progress!

Today I thought I would share our nursery prep progress. The crib is up, the dresser has been altered and painted and were currently working on painting the rocking chair and the side table! Thanks to Home Depot, we have every thing we need! I'm pretty sure that they will know us by name pretty soon from all the trips we've had to take (we've already been twice today!).

We did the crib first since it was the easiest to do. I was 17 weeks at the time and clearly very impatient! How can I not want to set everything up?! This is such an exciting time!

The dresser photos were on the hubby's phone but he accidentally deleted them... So all I have is an in-process photo unfortunately. We did that at week 18 :)
It was a dark brown. You can kind of tell from the bottom where it isn't painted yet. And the nobs were brown as well.
And Lastly, the rocking chair which was originally my moms, and the side table. The rocking chair is actually the one that my parents purchased when they found out she was pregnant with me! Which is why we knew we had to keep it instead of spending tons of money on a new one that didn't have any meaning behind it. These were taken today at 21 weeks :)

And there ya have it! I'm not planning on posting what they look like in the nursery since it's not complete yet but I'll get to that eventually...

Question: Any nursery item suggestions? I actually got some great advice over the last two days from some family and friends who have gone through this all before but would love more input!

Weekly Bumpdate: Week 20!

So this weeks bumpdate is a little late. We found out the gender a day after the 20 week mark and with all the excitement, I just never got around to putting it up. This is a photo that my sissy took of me at the gender reveal party that we had the day after the ultrasound. I'm actually really diggin' the maternity dress that I am wearing in the photo and so I think I will continue to wear it for my weekly photos. Plus, it's pink and I'm having a girl so it only makes sense ;)

How far along: 20 Weeks! HALFWAY

Total weight gain: Still 9 lbs.

Maternity clothes: I started buying some and it makes a world of a difference. No more tummy peeking out!

Stretch Marks: Still don't see any! PTL

Sleep: A little better, finally.

Best moments of this week: Having the 20 week ultrasound. I've never been so happy in my entire life.

Miss anything: Lunch meat! I've been staying away since the possibility of getting Listeria is higher..

Movement: YES. The most wonderful feeling in the world. I look forward to feeling her kicks throughout the entire day. They are still pretty weak but I have noticed a few that were a lot stronger!

Food cravings: Bagels. Thankfully I haven't taken to anything weird.

Anything making you queasy or sick: nope!

Have you started to show yet: Oh yeah. I've even been told that I look big for this stage, but I love it!

Gender: ITS A GIRL!!!! Gosh, I'm so happy. It's incredible.

Name picked out?: Lacey. As of now, her middle name is Jo, although I am still trying to decide if this is the right one. I want to love it as much as I love the name Lacey. Hubs seems to like it though so I think we may keep it :)

Labor signs: not for a while yet.

Belly button in or out: still in but its definitely looking swollen!

Wedding rings on or off: happily on.

Happy or moody most of the time: So unbelievably happy. Nothing can rain on my baby parade right now.

Looking forward to: The bedding and mattress to come in! We ordered them both this week and are just anxiously awaiting their arrival.

Favorite thing said to me this week: "I can't wait to buy stuff for Lacey!!"  Not going to lie, I love the enthusiasm people have about buying my sweet baby girl some cute clothes and such.

Weekly Bumpdate: Nineteen!

How far along: 19 weeks!

Total weight gain: 9 lbs! (Although by the end of the day, it's always at least 10...)

Maternity clothes: I still don't have any.. I really need to go shopping because i'm hanging out of all my regular clothes and I'm having a hard time matching anything I wear because the pieces that fit me best don't match with each other LOL.

Stretch Marks: Not yet, thank goodness!

Sleep: Still waking up with massive hip and back pain. If I don't get one of those big preggo pillows soon, I'm going to freak. A regular body pillow isn't cutting it.

Best moments of this week: Having people notice that I am pregnant! For a while, a bunch of people tried to tell me how much I was going to gain based on their experience or someone they know (my biggest pet peeve in pregnancy so far) and most of them assumed I wouldn't gain hardly anything at all. I've since wanted to prove them wrong and I believe I have! My good friend Liz understands me though ;)

Miss anything: Fruity drinks and coffee. Definitely.

Movement: No :( I'm so upset by this. But have been reassured multiple times by doctors and other preggo people that I am fine and that I should feel something soon enough..

Food cravings: Still craving pizza. Always. But I've since developed a craving to all things sour. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Anything making you queasy or sick: nada, hooray!

Have you started to show yet: Yes. You can definitely tell when I'm wearing a regular shirt or tank, and I am very excited about this!

Gender: WE FIND OUT IN A WEEK! I can't handle how excited I am. Hubby and I both are getting antsy.

Name picked out?: Yes for both. But were not telling because there are way too many baby name stealers out there!! Plus, we have had people be super rude to us about the names that we have chosen and have gone as far as to call the boy name a "pansy" name.  Mind you, I didn't even know this woman. She needs a punch in the ear.

Labor signs: not for a while yet.

Belly button in or out: still in, and hopefully it will stay in!

Wedding rings on or off: happily on.

Happy or moody most of the time: I've been feeling so much happier lately! Although I will say that the feisty that I have grown over the last couple of weeks has only increased and I'm not complaining. It's nice to not be a pushover anymore lol.

Looking forward to: Finding out the gender! With all the commotion of prepping for the reveal party and having my family come in from NJ for it, I keep forgetting my birthday is this week! It doesn't seem important anymore.

Favorite thing said to me this week: My cousin Face-Timed me and told me that even though she really wants it to be a boy, she has a strong feeling that it's a girl. Then 20 minutes later my friend messaged me and said that even though she wants it to be a girl, she has a strong feeling its a boy HAHA. I guess we will just have to wait and see who is correct!

Week 17!

How far along? 17 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: gained 7 lbs
Maternity clothes? I ordered two Belly Button Bands for free with a coupon code and they are great! No ugly maternity pants for me ;) As for shirts, my belly peeks out of most of them!

Stretch marks? No, thank goodness! I've been religiously applying cocoa butter just in case though.

Sleep: Two words: Hip. Pain. I'm not a fan of having to sleep on my sides when it makes my hips feel severely bruised. I've found that a long pillow has helped some but then I wake up and its off the bed some how..

Miss Anything? My brain. I can't think or concentrate on anything.

Movement:
 Not yet :(
Food cravings: Pizza! Particularly from Naples in my hometown. Oh, and Bagels and Beyond. I am considering driving the 7 hours to NJ just to go to these two places..

Anything making you queasy or sick: Sometimes I feel it randomly for a couple of minutes but I'm never sure why.
Have you started to show yet: I have! I'm excited about it too!
Gender: Not sure yet :( I'm definitely thinking it's a girl though.. Ricky will beg to differ.
Labor Signs: Nope.
Belly Button in or out? In still!
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: I've discovered a real feisty side I never knew I had in me and I kind of like it ;)

Looking forward to: Finding out when my gender appt will be! I find out on Tuesday!

Week 15- The weekly journey begins

How far along? 15 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: gained 5 lbs
Maternity clothes? I fit into all of my shirts just fine but have grown to love leggings more than I already did pre-pregnancy!

Stretch marks? Nope, and lets hope I don't ever need to say yes!

Sleep: A little annoying since I keep waking up in the middle of the night realizing to get off my stomach or back to turn to my side.

Miss Anything? Tuna Fish sandwiches

Movement:
The only movement I feel is something inside of me shifting when ever I turn from one side to the other.. not sure what that is though.
Food cravings: Tomato soup... always!

Anything making you queasy or sick: I think i'm finally past all of that! Yay!
Have you started to show yet: I can tell a big difference! Not sure if anyone else can! It's definitely more noticiable without the maternity shirt on because its a little big but I know i'll be growing into it;)
Gender: Not sure yet :( I'm getting way too anxious...
Labor Signs: Nope.
Belly Button in or out? In still, although it looks a little...swollen? Maybe my imagination.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Pretty much the same except I've been crying over every little thing at the most random times!

Looking forward to: Feeling the first flutters!!

5 Reasons To Wake Up Early When You Can Sleep In

Have you ever made yourself a goal that you just can't keep? What's the reason that you couldn't keep it? Lack of motivation maybe? For the past three years or so I have been trying to talk myself into getting into the habit of waking up early even when I could easily sleep in. I think my longest streak was 1 day and the 1 day that I did manage to crawl out of bed before the excruciating time of 8:30, was miserable. Purely miserable.

I realize that choosing to get up earlier so that you don't feel lazy is a pretty good reason, but it just wasn't a good enough one for me. So as I awoke early this morning at 7 and I made my drive to Starbucks for some much needed coffee, I decided to make a mental list of all the reasons getting up early on my day off is worth it. Let me share with you the top 5 that I came up with in hopes that if you are like me, they will be enough to get you going in the morning!

1. It prevents later stress. I have gotten more done in the wee hours of the morning since I woke up than I have on past days in a 12-hour time span. Seriously. This says one of two things about me. Either i'm really lazy and I choose to sit around all day on my days off while watching Psych and lounging in my pajamas (likely) or that I had the energy to get things done because I didn't oversleep my body by an extra 3+ hours (more likely). Believe it or not, it is totally possible to sleep too much to the point that when you do wake up, you will feel groggy and miserable all day. I used to assume that if I sleep till 10 then my body must have needed to sleep that long. This is a myth. By eliminating the bulk of my day's work (laundry, meal prep, homework ect.) I am able to enjoy the rest of my day without stressing and by doing the relaxing things I always dream of... such as binge watching Psych on Netflix in my pajamas while eating Peanut Butter toast and crocheting my blanket :P

2. Time with the Lord. Seriously, what more motivation do we need to wake up early? I used to think when I heard people saying that they got up at the buttcrack of dawn to spend time with Jesus that they were nuts. "Why do I have to get up at 5 a.m. to do my devos when I can do them at 5 p.m.?" Waking up that early doesn't make that person any holier than the person doing their devo's in the afternoon or evening, but it does bring about discipline and dedication to the Lord. If getting up at 8 a.m. to do your devotions is a sacrifice for you, than great! For others, 8 wouldn't be so they need to push it back to an earlier time.

3. It gives you a better excuse for taking a nap in the afternoon. When I sleep late and my body gets too much sleep, i'm tired and groggy for the rest of the day. Because of this, I always end up wanting a nap. The downside to this is, 1) I don't have time for a nap because I have too much going on since I didn't get my butt out of bed earlier to get said stuff done which then makes me grumpy (woof! that's a mouth full) or 2) If I do take the nap, then I am behind on work and I feel really guilty for sleeping so darn much. Easy Solution? Get up early, get stuff done and then if you feel the need for a nap, go for it! Hopefully you won't have that negative feeling inside you that I always do when I nap on a day that I shouldn't have.

4. Eat breakfast! I never eat breakfast because I never have time. But when I wake up, I do. (Obvious statement) The thing about eating breakfast, is that it's not just another meal during the day that we are given. I'm sure you have heard 900 times before that eating breakfast is good for you, but i'm going to tell it to you for the 901 time. ;) Remember how I said that waking up early gives you more energy during the day? Well, eating breakfast give you even more energy on top of that! Not only that, but it has been proven that eating breakfast in the morning, even if it's just some yogurt and fruit, helps your focus and concentration. So, how about 'dem apples?

5. It's beautiful. I am convinced that no matter where you live, the morning time is a beautiful time to be awake. I live in the mountains and let me tell you... the sky here is incredible. A friend of mine used to live in Hawaii and told me that the sky here is more beautiful than the sky in Hawaii!! Now that is really saying something! Anyways, there is just something so peaceful and beautiful about the quietness of the morning. The mist, the small sounds of the birds and other creatures, the emptiness that encompasses the streets and your neighborhood and of course the colors in the sky. If you don't get up early, you are missing the chance to revel in the beautiful creation that God made and personally, I don't know about you, but with all of the terrorism and horror that is happening in our world, it could do everyone a load of good to wake up early and see something other than all the crime and hate.

Question:

What reasons do you have for getting up early? I would love to add to my list for those days that seem especially difficult to get up!

#tbt Halloween Edition

In honor of it being Thursday, a day well known for it's special hashtags and old school photos, and since tomorrow is Halloween, I have decided to throw together some photos of my old Halloween costumes over the years. Unfortunately, there are some really rad costume photos that I can't find so you will all have to do without this time around... I think I am especially upset about not having the photo of me as a voodoo doll (100% handmade by my lovely mother)!!

From left to right we've got:
  •  My cousin and I trying to be like Panic! at the Disco from their music video, "I write Sins Not Tragedies"
  • My cute 2 year old self sitting next to a pumpkin that I so creatively colored on
  • Ricky and I... well we weren't so creative. We had the exact same outfit some how so we just decided to be twins. (Yes, I know. It's weird)
  • The year that I was a cheetah! (Stay tuned for this years costume... you may see a #TransformationTuesday coming along next week)
  • Ahh, the human barrito. It's safe to say that I was just being really lazy that year and wanted to stay inside where it was warm ;)
  • My sister and I dressed up as characters from "The King and I"
  • BARNEY! I think every kid was barney at one point.
  • A cowgirl
  • A hippy

For all of my New Jersey friends, I'm sorry that you can't enjoy trick-or-treating this year because of the Ebola scare... but if you want to send all of the candy that you bought this year that will go unused I would be more than happy to pay for the shipping ;)

Question:

What were some of your favorite costumes? Feel free to post any photos that you find! Don't be ashamed!
